Intel has revealed that it is developing a set-top box, which will deliver the movies and TV programs over the internet, in order to compete traditional cable services. Erik Huggers, Intel media group head, said that the set-top box will provide vast and enhanced experience as compared to existing cable boxes. According to him the digital entertainment content provided by the Intel’s hardware would surpass the content provided by cable companies.
Although the cable companies are providing content available on Smartphone and tablet computers as part of their TV Everywhere initiative, but the selection of programs and channels is limited.
Presently, lots of boxes, which supply Internet content to TV sets, exist in the market manufactured by Roku and Apple, etc, but the purpose of Intel is to introduce something unique with improved quality.
