Metro bus service is definitely a tremendous project by the Chief Minster of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. All of you fully aware with the tireless efforts of CM, who promised to facilitate the public with the outclass transport service. The MBS project is the first of its kind in Pakistan and it has elevated the standard of public transport.
CM has taken inspiration from Turkey to run Metro Bus service in Lahore and the project
had been greatly appreciated at the local and the international levels.
Earlier, a renowned Journalist Sohail Waraich did a program in the Istanbul and talked about the convenience Metro Bus Service in Turkey. The Launch of Metro bus service in Istanbul has overcome the traffic problems.
The same system has been developed in Lahore by the outstanding efforts of Shahbaz Sharif and such a big mass transit system in Pakistan completed in record time of 11 months.
The Metro bus system in Pakistan features the latest technologies at the stations for the first time in Pakistan for public transport including Hi-Tech E-Card System (used to open the barrier to the station), E-Ticketing System and Digital Boards (state the duration and direction).
A 32 kilometer dedicated lane for buses has been constructed which includes an 8 kilometer flyover upon which two rotaries have been constructed. The metro route has 27 stations.
Volvo, a Chinese manufacturing company, has dispatched the buses to Pakistan. Every bus has 50 to 60 seats with separate compartments for women and men, and can accommodate 150 passengers at a time.
The Metro Bus System by CM Shahbaz Sharif is state-of –the –art project in Punjab as compared to other provinces of Pakistan, especially Sindh, where people are facing lots of difficulties either concerned to transport or the law and order situation of the province.
Renowned journalist Kamran Khan in his show ‘AJ Kamran Khan Ka Sath’ presented a detailed comparative report on development projects in Punjab and other provinces.
His analysis showed that its the leadership & the ruling party that makes the difference between Punjab & Sindh. In Punjab, not only the budget is spent a transparent manner but also efficiently in bringing major reforms in education, health & infrastructure development. PML(N) in Punjab, under CM Shahbaz Sharif’s leadership, made best use of its 5 year tenure to improve the quality of life of the people of the Punjab whereas no major development is seen in other provinces.
The Metro bus service inaugurated by CM Shahbaz Sharif in a ceremony held on 10th February, 2013, attended by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and ambassadors of a number of countries. The inauguration ceremony was like a festival and a huge crowd of people thronged the route to welcome the inaugural operations from Gajjumata to Shahdra.
While speaking at the ceremony the Turkish deputy prime minister said his country would continue to support Punjab and other provinces for launching such major innovative projects.
The Metro Bus service is an asset of the nation and providing safe, comfortable and affordable journey to the people. There is a strong need to save the national asset and people should prove to be civilized citizens by demonstrating discipline , which is very essential to protect the innovative and revolutionary transport system.
