A garment factory building collapsed in Bangladesh about two weeks ago which claimed huge number of lives. Now the death toll climbed to more than
1,000, says Bangladeshi officials.According to an army officer huge
number of bodies have been found in stairwells and under the staircases
of the building. Brigadier General Sissiqul Alam Sikder told AFP “each time we moved a slab of concrete, we found a stack of bodies.”
The officials said that the structure of the building was not built for the support of the heavy machinery and the use of the several heavy generators on upper floors may have contributed to the collapse of the building.
After the terrible incident the law inforcement authorities have arrested at least nine people. The government of Bangladesh says it has shut down 18 garment factories for safety reasons. Read More
