PM approved the expansion of telemedicine network projectHealth care facilities are rare in rural areas of Pakistan.There is a strong need to develop hospitals and dispensaries in these areas. The government has taken a step to facilitate the people of rural areas and approved a  special project for expansion and the addition of telemedicine network. In this regard the second session of the 30th meeting of the Board of Directors of Universal Service Fund
(USF) was held in PM house and chaired by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
USF has done a great work in this connection.

Intel to develop enhanced quality set – top box

Intel has revealed that it is developing a set-top box, which will deliver the movies and TV programs over the internet, in order to compete traditional cable services. Erik Huggers, Intel media group head, said that the set-top box will provide vast and enhanced experience as compared to existing cable boxes. According to him the digital entertainment content provided by the Intel’s hardware would surpass the content provided by cable companies.

Implementation of Biometric Verification System National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is all set to deploy the Biometric Verification System for sale of new SIMs on 28th February, 2013, said a statement. The new Biometric verification system will require each citizen to approach retailer, franchisee or Customer Service Centers of Cellular Operators personally and provide his/her finger and palm impressions  for authentication against CNIC data held with NADRA.

Yale University examined 67 teenagers smokers and found that they had difficulty in focusing and interpreting sounds when there was a distraction.

The study collected data from 50 countries and the data revealed that the rate of Type 2 diabetes is too low in those countries where people drank  black tea in huge quantity.
