Microsoft offers Windows 8.1 absolutely Free for Windows 8 users,Older versions users have to Pay for it.There is good news for the users of Windows 8 that they can upgrade to Windows 8.1 absolutely Free while the rest of the users with older version will have to pay for it.The company’s officials said on Tuesday that the users with older Windows version will be able to get it after paying. Windows 8.1 will cost $119.99, while the Windows 8.1 Pro will cost $199.99 for the users running Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.The above mentioned prices are applicable either you download Window 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Pro from Windows.com, Microsoft.com and a retail-packaged DVD product sold at retail.  
The prices are the same which Microsoft offered for older versions of Windows.However, the company said ,
The company said that the Windows 8.1 is not designed for installation on devices running Windows XP or Windows Vista. That doesn't mean users can't do this or that Microsoft won't support users who opt to do this.Microsoft is advising them to buy the retail DVD, rather than download the bits and boot from the DVD to do a clean install of Windows 8.1. The company said that the files, settings and programs will not transfer the users should back up their files, settings, and programs and then reinstall them.
The company also said that if users buy new devices running Windows 8.1, starting later this year, will be able to buy a Windows 8.1 Pro Pack for $99.99, which will add support for all the Pro-specific features, plus Windows Media Center. Users running Windows 8.1 Pro will be able to buy Windows Media Center as an add-on for $9.99.
