Three Famous Dishes Of Punjab. Northern state of India, Punjab is famous for its delicious cuisines. A Punjabi dish is always cooked in appetizing gravy, melted in butter. Punjabi food is scrumptious and healthy, having its own fascination. Rajma Chawal
If you are in Punjab, you will find famous rajma chawal everywhere for either lunch or dinner. Apart from homes and restaurants, street hawkers or small shops also provide piping hot rajma chawal. Easy to prepare, the recipe needs whole the kidney beans and rice.
Ingredients:
1 cup red kidney beans soaked for 5 hours
Tomato puree of 3 tomatoes
Paste of 3 onions, small amount of ginger, few cloves of garlic and 2-3 green chilies
1 tablespoon Oil
Salt according to taste
Methods:
  1. Add 3 and half cups of water in soaked rajma inside a pressure cooker. Add some salt while flaming the rajma till they get soft.
  2. Take a pan and cook the other ingredients like tomato puree, onion, oil and ginger for next 10 minutes.
  3. Add garam masala in the mixture and stir properly.
  4. After cooking, add the mixture in a pressure cooker along with the rajma. Stir it for next 20 minutes.
  5. The more you simmer the rajma, the tastier it gets.
Dal Makhni

The smooth texture and lovely flavor of Dal Makhni is a delicacy that is very much a dish of the state. Every single punjabi restaurant or a food place claim that they alone can make to perfection. With the combination of dal, rajma and spice results a heavy dish.
Ingredients:
½ cup of black gram
Red Kidney Beans (In some Quantity)
Red chili powder
Butter
2 medium chopped tomatoes
1 chopped Onion
1 tablespoon Oil
Method:
  1. Soak black gram and red kidney beans in water for 5 hours.
  2.  Put the soaked material in pressure cooker along with salt and red chili powder for three whistles or while the material gets soft.
  3. In a separate pan, add the mixture of tomatoes, onion, garlic, oil and chilies till they start changing colors.
  4. Add the cooked black gram and red kidney beans along with the cooking liquor.
Sarson Ka Saag And Makki Ki Roti

Traditional dish of Punjab, Sarson ka saag and Makki ki roti is highly nutritious because mustard leaves have iron and protein. The dish is filled with labor of love, time and patience. Simply follow the steps here and cook the favorite dish at home and enjoy it with makke ki roti.
Ingredients:
Mustard leaves (a bunch)
Palak (1 bunch)
1 Onion and 1 chopped tomato
½ teaspoon ginger
Salt (according to taste)
Ghee or oil

Method:
  1. Add one teaspoon oil, all greens, ginger, garlic and green chilies in a pressure cooker.
  2. Add salt and water.
  3. Cook it for two whistles.
  4. After that, grind it into smooth paste.
  5. Mix it with onion and tomatoes.
  6. Let it simmer until oil separates out.
  7. Serve with hot Makki ki roti.
