Beware of Spoof Messaging: Consequences could be destructive


Spoof messaging is most common now days.  Many of us do not know about spoof messaging, actually Spoof messaging lets you to change the name or number text messages appear to come from.It is known as Spoof messaging and messages can be sent by a  malicious software, available in the market merely in RS. 150.


In Pakistan, the Law enforcement authorities are failed to take any action against the sellers of this software and those who send fake messages to the innocent public. Spoof messages  involve individual’s mobile numbers without their knowledge or consents.
The software called as “Evil Mobile Software”, authorize people to send messages from any mobile number. The software could have terrible consequences. The software can generate severe security problems including: threat messages, contact among terrorists, bank fraud, etc.
In this regard a Special Branch issued a memorandum and has been sent to the Interior Ministry, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Punjab Home Department and Police. The memorandum has revealed that this type of software used for SMS spoof  is easily accessible for purchase in the market by unknown sellers.
These unidentified sellers advertise on the internet, by just giving on which one can call and make a payment through “Easy Paisa” load, said the contents of the memorandum. Therefore, the identity of the seller remains hidden.
There is an instant need to take action against those persons involved in the sale of this software. The memorandum proposed that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) should be asked to take proper measures to bar the use of this software via internet.
The advertisements of this software are also available at the the Hafeez Centre classified portal and according to the memorandum the Hafeez Centre Union should be asked to block these advertisements on its portal.Read More
