Ban on YouTube leads to a petition in Peshawar High CourtThere were reports that the video sharing site YouTube would be restored in Pakistan in the first week of May but nothing happen like this. Now a lawyer from Peshawar has challenged the ban on YouTube in Peshawar High Court. He is of the view that PTA and MoIT have failed to block the blasphemous content on the YouTube. He said that the video sharing site should be un-blocked because that it’s in the larger interest of the general public to access the YouTube.

The Petitioner,Mian Mohibullah Kakakhel, said that the PTA and MoIT have maintained that the URLs are blocked at many occasions but the blockage of the whole video sharing site is no the right solution of the problem.
The Petitioner is of the view that the ban on YouTube is the violation of basic human rights and their right to access to information that is available Publicly.
