Samsung
has officially launched its Galaxy Gear Android smartwatch at the IFA event in
Berlin yesterday alongside the Galaxy Note 3 device. The Samsung Galaxy Gear
smartwatch comes with a range of features including a 1.63 inch Super AMOLED
display that outputs 320 x 320 pixels and there's a 1.9MP camera on the strap
which allows you to record video in Full HD. The
Samsung Galaxy gear smartwatch will connect to the Galaxy Note 3 using a
combination of Bluetooth and a dedicated app, plus connect to the new Note
10.1. Further device support will come with a later update, but Samsung says
the Galaxy S4 will be getting updated soon.Pranav
Mistry, head of Samsung’s think tank, who introduced the Galaxy Gear at IFA
2013, said,
“With Gear, we have opened up a new chapter, a new direction to an exciting world of possibilities. With Gear, Samsung reinvents a centuries-old object. Galaxy Gear is an engineering marvel — it defines tomorrow.”
Other
features of the Galaxy gear are an 800Mhz processor, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB
non-expandable storage. It weighs just 73.8g.
The
Galaxy Gear can brag 70 apps, including Path, Pocket and RunKeeper. The Galaxy
Gear comes having Galaxy Gear apps, S-Voice, Gallery, Schedule and the new
Pocket Listen for Galaxy Gear.
The
Samsung Galaxy Gear samrtwatch will be released on 25th September in
more than 100 countries, with more to follow in October 2013. The price details is a follows $299/£299/about
AU$326.
