Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani becomes the New Chief Justice Of Pakistan


Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani becomes the New Chief Justice Of Pakistan. After the retirement of former Chief  Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary on Wednesday, 11 Dec, Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani  became the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.
He took the oath of his new CJP office today on Thursday, 12th December, 2013. He will work as the CJP of six months and 24 days, after that his office will be replaced by Justice Nasirul Mulk. The oath taking ceremony was held today, which is attended by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain, former chief justice of Pakistan and other renowned personalities.
The Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry bid farewell from his office on Wednesday.  Born in Quetta on 12th December, 1948, Justice Chaudhry was the longest serving chief justice in the country’s history. He was appointed as CJP in June 2005 but remained dysfunctional from November 2007 to March 2009.
He broke the record of turning prophecies of media pundits false by summoning and verdicting the high officials of the country, who used to think about themselves to be above the law.
Justice Jillani, who was working as the Acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) , has now become the new CJP of the country. He is considered as the a mild mannered personality. He has a deep love for poetry, antiques and films.

Born in Multan in 1949, he did his bachelor from Government Emerson College Multan and obtained a degree in the M.A. in Political Science from Forman Christian College and later on a graduate degree in Law from the University of the Punjab. He is related to the current ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani and a former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, who Chaudhry forced to step down last year.
