Jamal Rahman of True Brew Records promotes Independent Pakistani music through collaborative effort ‘Storm in a Teacup’

Jamal Rahman, acclaimed music producerand CEO of True Brew Records, collaborated with LussunTV, Rafi Peer and Cityfm89 at Peeru’s Café on Sunday 26^th January 2014 on the first of itskind all day live music festival ‘Storm in a Teacup'. The all-day live music festival brought together the best of Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore's independent bands including Poor Rich Boy (and the Toothless Winos), Natasha Humera Ejaz, Sikandar Ka Mandar, //orangenoise, Shajie, Ali Suhail, Red Blood Cat and Lower Sindh! and the Swing Orchestra in a seven hour music extravaganza.

Speaking about ‘Storm in a Teacup’music producer Jamal Rahman said,

“The True Brew Records show, Storm in a Teacup, was a bigger step forward in my pursuit of really pushing the live music scene in Pakistan, that I first started with my ‘Live at True Brew’ shows. For Storm in a Teacup, our focus was on the young, independent music scene, where we promoted indie artists who came from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, just for this festival.

Coke Studio Season 6 Fifth and final episode airs on 5th January 2014

Coke Studio releases its Fifth and final episode of Season 6 featuring “Miyan Ki Malhaar” by Ayesha Omar, Fariha Pervez, Zara Madani and Rustam Fateh Ali Khan, “Allah Hu” by Saieen Zahoor featuring Abrar-ul-Haq, “Moray Naina” by Zara Madani and “Sawaal – Kande Utte” by Ali Azmat and Muazzam Ali Khan. Bringing nature’s intricacies to the mix this season is the story of ‘Miyan Ki Malhaar’.   

A raag that is based on the rainy season, in this presentation of the raag, the song sees the flow of the oncoming rain first heard from afar, flowing into the drizzle and finally into the crash of lightning and thunder in its full downpour. Ayesha Omar opens the song reminiscing about the beauty of the raag that is known to actually cause rain in classical tradition. The underlying tone of the verses’ cyclic chants is one of imminent release – an almost looming feel that is felt in the instrumentation by the band in Serbia and distinctly felt in the groove of the bass line.

Introducing “Jimmy Khan & The Big Ears” this New Year with their first release: ‘Nadiya”

Popular musician Jimmy Khan, who first made his debut with ‘PehlaPyar’ in 2011 and ‘AisayKaisay’ the following year, introduces a new avatar with Jimmy Khan & The Big Ears - a collaborative title and a brand new sound with ‘Nadiya’ as the first single from the album, releasing nationwide on 01^stJanuary 2014.

Jimmy Khan & The Big Ears include Jimmy Khan himself (Vocals/Guitars), Zain Ahsan (Ukulele/Producer), Sameer Ahmed (Bass) and RaavailSattar (Percussions).Nadiya has been composed, written and sung by Jimmy himself and produced by Zain Ahsan with Sameer Ahmed on bass and RaavailSattar on percussions. Nadiya is the first single from the untitled album and the song draws inspiration from 50's/60's film music, redone using folk instruments, it simply speaks of love loss.

As we told you earlier that the Judges of Pakistan Idol are not fairly selecting the contestants, they have continuously rejected the girls and boys with alluring voices. You saw earlier they, Ali Azmat, Hadiqa Kiyani and Bushara Ansari, said no to a number of contestants, now they showed a red signal to another magical voice holder. 
The guy in the below mentioned video sung a song in an attractive manner, all the judges looked happy and enjoyed the performance, regardless of his performance they rejected him as well.

Famous singer Miley Cyrus has released the video of her awesome track “Adore You”.   She released the video of the song on the Christmas Day; it’s a gift for her fans. The video of the track Adore You features Miley herself. The video of the track was previously scheduled to come out on 26^th December, but surfaced a day earlier.
The track is the third single of its hot album Bangerz. The album Bangerz shows the emotional side of Miley Cyrus. The famous songs of the Bangerz’s include  'We Can't Stop' and 'Wrecking Ball.’  These two track were the biggest hits of the year 2013.The track 'Adore You,' was written by up and coming artist Stacy Barthe and was produced by Oren Yoel.

We reported you earlier that the famous Singer Beyoncé unveiled a holiday surprise for its fans which was her self-titled Studio album featuring 14 video songs. The Album Beyoncé  has now become the fastest selling album on the iTunes store. Released on 13^th December on iTunes the album has reached  828,773 copies in three days. Approximately, 617,213 copies have been sold which broke the US first-week sales record .

Mobilink empowers over 10,000 participants to participate in Pakistan’s biggest music reality show.Mobilink’s mobile auditions have received 10,861 entries from participants aspiring to participate in Pakistan Idol. The Mobilink mobile auditions mark the first time in the history of the global reality show that participants have been able to send in their nominations using call-ins.As the official cellular partner of Pakistan Idol, Mobilink took on the responsibility of empowering 37 million subscribers on its network by providing them access to Pakistan Idol through their mobile phones. The resulting call-in nominations were received from over 850 cities, towns and villages from across Pakistan. Farid Ahmad, Vice President Marketing, Mobilink said,

Fatburger, the globally coveted quick service chain of restaurants, is providing Pakistani youth an outlet to showcase their musical talent through its new music platform “Livewire”. The platform is envisioned as a creative outlet for all potential musicians, no matter how refined or raw their music abilities. All performances were shortlisted and evaluated by a panel of judges comprising of Griffin James, a Master degree holder in Western Classical Music from the Trinity College of Music, London in piano/pipe organ technique and voice re-production and AsrarChisti, the Head of the Music Department, College of Arts and Design, Punjab University, a gold medalist in Tabla and Ghazal. Based on their assessment and user feedback garnered from the official Fatburger Facebook page, the highest rated act will be honoured as the“Fatburger Livewire Ambassador” and willbe provided opportunities to showcase their musical talent through exclusive performances, seasonal funfairs and other youth initiatives.

City of lights Karachi got lightened by Pakistan Idol

The Largest and most populous metropolitan city of Pakistan Karachi got lightened with Pakistan’s first ever music reality show Pakistan Idol “Jo haiDilkiAwaaz”. The biggest city gave the biggest turnover so far in this journey of Pakistan Idol. Karachi also known as city of lights for some time became as the city of music and great talent. Huge turnover was seen with an amazing crowd with full of energy and passion for music. Karachi was team Idol’s last destination for auditions and this was the best ending which the Karachiites bought at Pakistan Idol’s platform. Karachi is home to music, theatre and art activities but this was something new and something amazing which we saw in these 3 day auditions in Karachi. Overwhelming crowd , enthusiastic contestants who were least bothered about the hot weather and just wanted to give their best in Pakistan Idol’s auditions.

Contestants were found screaming“Jeetaygabhaijeetayga ,Hamara Karachi jeetayga” & “Dama Dum Mast Qalandar , Karachi kaPehla number”. Surely contestants from Karachi were one of the best contestants in the whole Idol journey.

The auditions which started from Islamabad ended with more energy in Karachi. It seemed like Karachi gave its best in the ending of the audition sessions. Let’s see what more we get to see in the coming days of Pakistan Idol “Jo haidilkiawaaz”.
