Third exhibition of Brazilian cinema

The third exhibition of Brazilian cinema will be held in Pakistan on 21^st February, 201. The event will be organized by the Brazilian Embassy and will continue till 24^th February. The event will feature four awarded movies representing different styles and approaches of the Brazilian cinema. The movies are ‘My Country’, ‘The invisible Women’, ‘Kings and Rats’.
At the end of the exhibition, the Embassy presents 360, a co-production of Brazil, UK, Austria and France, directed by Fernando Meireles, the awarded director of “City of God”.

Metro Bus Project: Inspiration to Completion

Metro bus service is definitely a tremendous project by the Chief Minster of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. PM approved the expansion of telemedicine network project

Health care facilities are rare in rural areas of Pakistan.There is a strong need to develop hospitals and dispensaries in these areas. The government has taken a step to facilitate the people of rural areas and approved a  special project for expansion and the addition of telemedicine network. In this regard the second session of the 30th meeting of the Board of Directors of Universal Service Fund
(USF) was held in PM house and chaired by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
USF has done a great work in this connection.

Intel to develop enhanced quality set – top box

Intel has revealed that it is developing a set-top box, which will deliver the movies and TV programs over the internet, in order to compete traditional cable services. Erik Huggers, Intel media group head, said that the set-top box will provide vast and enhanced experience as compared to existing cable boxes. According to him the digital entertainment content provided by the Intel’s hardware would surpass the content provided by cable companies.

Implementation of Biometric Verification System

National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is all set to deploy the Biometric Verification System for sale of new SIMs on 28^th February, 2013, said a statement. The new Biometric verification system will require each citizen to approach retailer, franchisee or Customer Service Centers of Cellular Operators personally and provide his/her finger and palm impressions  for authentication against CNIC data held with NADRA.

Correlation of Smoking and hearing problems

The US study has revealed that the teenager smokers and the children whose mother smoked during pregnancy are at a strong peril of hearing problems.Another study showed that the smokers are 70% more apt than non-smokers to suffer hearing problems. Yale University examined 67 teenagers smokers and found that they had difficulty in focusing and interpreting sounds when there was a distraction.

Role of USF in Developing connectivity in rural areas

The Universal Service Fund (USF) should be used properly in order to develop connectivity in rural areas and benefit of telecom sector, said PM Raja Pervez Ashraf, while leading a meeting of Board of Director of Universal Service Fund in Islamabad.  The USF has shown a good performance in extending connectivity in far-flung areas of Balochistan, in an effort to bring them to an equal level to other developed areas of the country. PM praised the efforts of USF. The meeting was informed that USF has made terrific  development in last 5 years.

Consumption of Black tea may reduce diabetes risk

The study has shown that those who drank black tea on a regular basis are less likely to develop type 2 diabetes. The study collected data from 50 countries and the data revealed that the rate of Type 2 diabetes is too low in those countries where people drank  black tea in huge quantity. Those who drank the most black tea also suffered the lowest levels of the metabolic syndrome. The study also revealed that the high tea consumption was related to lower levels of obesity.

CM Punjab to Launch Ujala Program in Bahawalpur Today

Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif arrives in Bahawalpur today (29^th Jan) to officially launch Ujala Program. The aim of the launch of Ujala program is to provide Solar Home Systems to 200,000 Students on merit.
